I looked on chemical guys earlier and for about $185 you get the porter cable, numerous bed logic pads, and a few other things. May be worth it to check it out depending on how many of the lads you need.

I would say it's a good start. You would be best off with two orange and white pads, I prefer microfiber over foam personally. I would also pick up two grit guard for the two bucket wash method.
If you haven't checked out yet, let me know and I can help you customize it down to what you need.

Looks like my Amazon list, from the past couple of months. I've ordered everything on there except the Chemical Guys kit - one of my grit guards is even red! The foam gun is great - one of the best investments I've made. I suggest using Detailer's Pro series foam formula with it (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) A little goes a long way, and it makes a thick, clingy foam. In the foam gun you only need to have the canister about half-full to cover a Camaro.
An added plus is that you can use the foam gun for other cleaning jobs around the house, because it will turn regular householdcleaning soap into foam. It's excellent for cleaning screens on my lanai - let the foam sit there a few minutes to loosen up the dirt, then hose them off. If you don't have the right size wash buckets yet you can save a few bucks buying them from Home Depot. The 5-gallon buckets they sell with their logo on it are only $3.00 each, and they fit the grit guard perfectly.

I would drop the chemical guys pads and the backing plate for 52.84 and get this instead, it has 2 cutting and 2 finishing pads both microfiber, a 5" backing plate, D300 compound and finishing wax, and an apron for 59.99. This system is very easy to use and gives great results.
You can get Amazon to price match the porter cable which is currently on sale at autogeek for 110.49 which will cover the difference on the 7 dollars extra for this kit. |

I honestly would have ditched the chemical guys stuff. Their stuff is just ok, nothing special. I currently use the optimum compound/polish combo and love it. But everyone has their preference. Either way, chances are you could get better products for close to or the same price as the chemical guys stuff. Also, right now, autogeek and autopia are running a 15% off sale as well as free shipping if you spend a certain amount of money.

Foam pads work good but microfiber I've found are much faster at correcting. I still use a foam pad to jewel however. You'll find tons of opinions here, most of which are what works for them and there techniques, a few actually have tons of experience with many products and can save you a ton of time and money. IMHO I'd contact CD07 and Dylan at Adams and kindly ask for help. Also I'd look at the Sticky at the top of this section that CD07 put together and take notes.
Hope this helps |
