It's not even a production engine. ..
There were rumors for at least 3yrs that the 5.5 would be detuned for street production. I guess the easy way to add 30hp would be a DI LS3. I'm a first year buyer and I dont have back up sensors/HUD. Things have to progress...
Let the mustang kick ass, we dont want to piss off the year one buyers, That makes no sense.

I get the feeling that we're predicting things that GM hasn't even thought about yet. Which shows how cool we really are!

ok. . .but you failed to recognize they need to make a profit before moving on with drivetrains. hud/sensors are cheap compared to engines/transmissions etc. where the new 5.0's R&D has been paid for by previous iterations of the lame version of the mustang. the mustang guys have had to deal with price increases with out any real progress, in the engine department. where now the camaro is only coming into it's second year. you fully expect GM to turn around and lose money when they just paid off their loans that saved them? I think not. besides the next iteration of the camaro will kick this current mustangs butt and then it will go back the other way. . .it's called progress. . .

If D.I. is introduced to the LS3 I bet it will be in all vehicles that use the engine, so the Camaro and Corvette will get it the same year. It is a production/tooling/emission cost thing.

So we just sit and watch the 2011 Stang get more market share until 2012?
Thats the old GM way of thinking......
I'll BET, that the 2011 sales for the Camaro will suffer because of the 5.0 debut and we had nothing to counter it.

guess that's what the vert and the Z-28 will be. . . but you forget about those? I expected the coupe to drop in sales this year no matter what. the initial demand and new factor is wearing off. the gotta have it now croud has purchased or moved on to the so called better stang.

What are you talking about? The difference between the SS and GT is a drivers race and in 2 test I read about, the SS beat the GT by 2 tenths and 2mph in the quarter. The 6.2 also only gets 1mpg less than the much smaller 5.0 and thats with the SS weighing 300lbs more. The funny thing to me about the Coyote motor with all the R & D they put in it, with all the trick parts it still fell short or maybe right on par with the SS. Dont get me wrong I think its a great motor and makes killer power for its displacement but make no mistake they made it to run away from the SS. The fact is it didnt come close to doing that. The real funny thing is is that they could have made a NA aluminum block DOHC 5.4 that would have done just that and all they would have had to make for it is a intake manifold because the rest of the parts already existed. They also have a SOHC 6.2 in the parts bin that would have done the job. It would have been fun to see what GM would have made to counter it but now that they have seen it they are probably saying "whats the point?"

I feel exactly the same way, I think Ford got so caught up in offering a "5.0" that they dropped the ball. The 5.0 block is already maxxed out displacement wise, so there is no growth potential either from this major redesign. A 5.4 DOHC motor would have been a much better match, and they could have started with a slightly lower output version, then bumped it up in a few years. As it is, they have left very little on the table. I don't know, maybe they can put these 5.0 parts on the 5.4 down the road, and that is their plan for the future. Otherwise, when GM revises the LS3, Ford will need a supercharger AGAIN to compete.
