Sad for an old fart to see today's "kids" (and I will not make that "kid's"), as they do) trying to make cars (NOT car's) look like something faster than they are. We used to love driving "sleepers" which were made to look like they were NOT as fast as we would then prove them to be. Today, I see four door four cylinder automatics that have "spoilers" (WELL named !!!) and stripes. ooooooooooo they must be fast, huh? SSs have fake scoops/slots up front and in front of the rear wheels. Sad! Go ahead and look again at the LSs with no spoiler and honestly admit to yourself that they really look much better, cleaner, no matter what your buddies say and do. I advise a rereading of The Emperor's New Clothes once in a while. It helps explain why people do some very dumb things (not thing's).

Danko, I consider myself an "Old Fart" too at 54 years old and I originally wanted to keep my car as close to stock. I chose a 2LT/RS as my choice for a daily driver because in the 70's I owned a few muscle cars: 69 Camaro, 69 Roadrunner, and a 73 Mustang. I had my fun and now with my current hemi powered work vehicle, for the last 28 years I can and do drive "fast" in traffic. I don't "need" to drive as fast as I used too. I agree that the sleeper concept was important then. But what is wrong with getting the look you want to with your car now? If I chose to put a hood, stripes, new spoiler, wheels or body kit, I know it doesn't change my 6 cylinder engine. Not all of these upgrades were available when I was in my teens, nor could I afford them. I can now and choose adding to my car very carefully. Personally I like the look of the hood insert on the ZL1. My choice doesn't make it look faster to me, to me it enhances the overall look of the car with a added benefit of functionality . If GM had not done this design and I saw it from "XYZ" aftermarket company, I would still strongly consider putting it on my Camaro over other hoods.I like this look. My 25 and 26 years old sons might not. My car, my choice.
I'm more than happy with the stock looks of this car as I'm sure you are with your corvette. Once in a while, I chose to make my Camaro a bit more mine.

Chief engineer Al Oppenheiser: "One third of the ZL1 was redesigned from the SS it was based from. The front fascia/splitter/Hood are not interchangeable with the current SS. "

The ZL1 hood is like the trademark for the ZL1...anyone who puts one on a car that is not a ZL1 is a Poser.Just like I wouln't put a fake hood scoop on my SXT Charger. Not to mention when someone says to you sweet, a ZL1 and you answer no its not! you kinda look foolish IMO.

Why care what someone else does to their car?
I'd only consider someone a poser if they put the emblems from the ZL1 on their car. Even then its kinda comical. 5 years ago when I bought my Saleen I bet 9 out of 10 I saw on the street were fake. It didn't bother me. I always liked pulling up to the fake ones and then give the guy a smile.
