"Garage Ornament" status achieved

Well, it's been almost a year since I picked up my 2011 SS. It's got 3500 miles on it. I realized this after I was in the garage last night, and it occurred to me that the car's been sitting for at least 4 weeks now...in the garage...plugged into a battery tender. We don't have hard winters around here, so it's not like the car is in storage. I realize it will never be a collector vehicle--and fully expect it to be worth nothing in 10-15 years. So, it should be driven.

Meanwhile I've put a little over 10k on my jeep in the same time period that I've had the Camaro.

It seems irrational to keep it and not drive it. I love driving it, but feel bad thrashing it for daily duty....

Your thoughts?

I'll never understand why people buy cars and don't drive them. No offense to you sir.

I can't talk, I bought mine in November 09 and I only have 10,600 miles.

If I wanted a garage queen, I would have bought a much nicer, collectible car. I daily drive mine about 50 miles every day and love every minute of it!

Collectable-maybe not as collectable as a 1st gen, but a limited number on the production run would help, so would demand.

DD-well I drive it to where I need to.

Storage-definitely, not driving it in the snow and salt for a number of reasons.

Bottom line-this is a car that is meant to be driven, so drive it!

I don't understand myself either. I took delivery Aug 2009...less than 7k on the odo. drove it maybe 100 miles since I got the GT500.

My thoughts? I think you and I must share similar personality traits and should try try change our ways. I had 3,600 miles on my 2011 when I sold it after ten months and have 820 miles on my 2012 after about three months. Fun, fun, fun to drive but I also like a pristine car. We probably need to seek some middle ground.

No garage queens at my home! I use my vehicle all year long and garage it only if the snow is too deep or we take long family trips so then we use our Chevy Trailblazer LTZ!!!

7K miles on mine and put away til spring. I like my camaro to be shiny and super clean everytime I drive it. It is impossible to achieve with a daily driver. It just feels much better when it looks showroom clean.

There's a 78 corvette in the garage with 2 k more miles since 2007. Don't feel bad.

It's not impossible, but it does require effort! My garage helps and the fact I live in a more rural area and drive all of 4 miles to work each way!

Difficult, but not impossible.

Granted I spend at least 6 months of every year out of the country, and therefore not driving it. But when I'm home, I drive it every day.

Impossible if it's raining that day you need to get to work. One shower and you're done until the next wash. My washes however are easily 1 and half hour job but I realize not everyone has that luxury for a weekend car or cares.
