Also, women should not vote, green is a bad color and doctors are for sissies.(sarcasm)
Why no turbos for V8s? Ever hear of a little car called the Veyron with 4 turbos on 16 cylinders? Ever hear of the 612HP AMG V-12 Biturbo they put in Mercedes most expensive cars? 2 extra cylinders in a V8 does not change the laws of physics. Up the intake PSI and you get more power. Yes, the details matter too, but done right, a twin turbo V8 makes as much sense as a V6. |

ur funny. close minded as well. a turbo pulls air in and compresses it and pushes it to the engine. looks like I need to add a new tech writeup....

You need to go out to the track and watch some of the 1900 hp outlaw doors cars with 1-2 & 3 turbos on big block motors. You would change your mind then.

Well I get how a turbo works. I'm just wondering if this setup functions differently because it's rear mounted. Are the benefits weight and cooling and tubes are just run from the back to the front or does it use one of those counter intuitive physics quirks to somehow work by just bolting on to the exhaust?

I think it looks sweet. can't wait to see the dyno numbers and cost.

That's one heck of an idea...don't have to worry about finding more room in an already tight engine bay.

In a nutshell, rear-mount turbocharging isolates underhood components from the wire-frying heat typically given off by a turbocharger's turbine housing. In addition, the rear-mounting methodology means the turbos themselves run cooler, and the install is simpler and cleaner. Also, no piping downstream of the turbo means no backpressure whatsoever, thereby improving turbocharger performance
(That is from this article about a Z06 with rear mounted twin turbos) http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vem...kit/index.html |
