I've never had another 5th gen try to race. If anything they flashed the lights in acknowledgement of the awesomeness that is the 5th gen. There are 3 that are local that I see a few times a week and this the general ritual. No racing or challenges that I could see.

When I had my 2010 the ricers always seem to want a piece, but I laughed it off. Now in my 2011, the past couple of days is a lot of head turns (my car is Rally Yellow/no stipes) and still the ricers revving up the engine next to me. It's kind of funny and the kids look like idiots, especially those that don't know how to shift off the line. I don't race, but watching them peel out and miss the gear in a beat up Civic is pretty great.

Mustangs are very common here in Northern VA, Camaros not so much (which may be another reason I haven't had one try to race but I doubt it). The kids in the 'stangs usually rev the engine and then take off. No racing just trying to show off. Doesn't bother me.

Racing in general seems to be confined to the younger crowd in my area. Granted when I was in high school I did the same thing, but now it seems to be more public (thanks Paul Walker and Mr Vincent Diesel). I guess it is an age thing. I haven't seen any of the "adults" trying to race at all. It is really only the kids. Maybe the adults know better as the cops around here are pretty brutal. No talking your way out of tickets here.

Rarely get challenged by Stangs or Challengers.

For some reaon, German imports HAVE to rev up on me at every light. Beemers and Benzies.

I don't even pay attention to the kids in their VTEC's. If they have their window down and they are revving and acting douche-like I ask them: "Would you like to borrow a few cylinders?"

This isn't 2010 or even early 2011 anymore. They caught up my friend.

KEEP IT ON THE TRACK...
well actually if they are street racing on the highway the SS is actually faster than the 5.0 now at the track its the opposite the 5.0 is a little quicker than the SS

I've been through a Turbo'd 350Z (and it had HUGE Turbonetics banners on the doors, so there was no mistaking it), 2 Vipers and now the Camaro. I think I've been challenged twice since I started into sports cars in early 2004. I never understood how so many people get these challenges as often as you do. I guess living in the wealthiest nation in the county, the site of Lambos, Ferraris is a daily occurence so nobody looks at my crappy little cars.

I've got the V6 so I'm really not fast but I like to let the Mustang and Challenger V6's know whats up. Also, sometimes people don't even realize it's not an SS and back off right away.

Ditto - racing isn't worth the risk of losing my license, or my life. But the ones that make me chuckle the most are the non-local drivers that stop at the local traffic light, floor it, then have to slam on their brakes at the next light 100 yards away which is never in sync with the first light. It's quite comical.
