And they do a terrible job. Its a design that wasn't thought out at all. The straps do work when they dont pop open. If I look over my right shoulder, it comes off. Also when I bought the car five months ago I inspected the straps because of what I read here. The previous owner must no of used the straps because there look fine. But in five months of use, the drivers side strap the stiching is stretched and about ready to tear. On the passenger side, the strap is half way torn off the seat leather.

I can think of several designs that would of worked better than GM's Mickey Mouse way of designing it.

My 2010 coupe used to pop off all the time but my convertible maybe has 3 times in almost two years. I attribute that to the mounting location of the belt. The convertible has it much lower than the coupe, less strain on the strap.
