"The knee hits the key fob turning the ignition into the off position..."

unless you're like 600 pounds with thunder thighs the size of tree trunks i can't imagine how this could possibly happen. If you can fit into your car I think you're fine.

If you go in for service, I don't think you can keep them from doing the recall.

My knee doesn't hit my fob, so I'll just keep it.

My knee comes no where near the ignition. It's not an issue for me.

I'm wondering if the ignition will be keyed differently than the trunk release thats hidden behind the rear seat. That would make it twice as bad - separate FOB, ignition key & trunk key? Is this a possibility?

I'm going to take mine in just so I can get a free replacement key and fob since the rubber keys on one of my keyfobs has rotted out and the keys are actually about to fall out of the keyfob.

I'll be keeping my switchblade key, what a dumb reason for a recall.

I would just as soon keep what I have, instead of the fob AND a key in my pocket!

Exactly, the switchblade key is so much better then a individual fob and seems near impossible to hit it.

I am also highly disinterested in replacing my fob.

As a former designer of passenger safety systems I say anyone sitting that close to the steering wheel wouldn't want the airbag deploying anyway. My Equinox has a switchblade key and is not on that list. Regardless, I will not be turning in either one.
