He means that someone could hack your phone and access the onstar app, thus using it's features to start and unlock your car.

I think.

They can't hack your phone and access the app if you never install it.

He said it was a bonus in his book that the 2010 Camaro wouldn't support the app, so they couldn't hack your phone and steal your Camaro. Since you can achieve the same effect by not installing the app, I fail to see how not having a choice is a bonus.

The app will not add remote start to a car that never came with it.

though i guess convience is mother to nessesity.

I would still be interested in the possible update for my 2010 so the option is there, but it'll be way to expensive to actually do it I'm betting since you'll probably have to rip the dash all the way out.
You can install antivirus software on a smart phone. Just search "Antivirus" in the app store.

One thing not realized here is that the Camaro can not be moved with out the key actually IN the ignition. Yes it could be started but it will only run for 10 minutes two times. (This is in the manual.) So it is not possible to steal a car just using the OnStar App. So don't worry about that!

OnStar it's been bugging me for the last few months about my subscription running out so I finally called them and told them that for $300 a year I will not buy it unless I get those new features that are coming on the 2011 cars, the lady I was talking claimed that she didn't know what I was talking about but that she would pass my concerns to the R&D department,

so maybe if more 2010 owners refuse to pay the $300 a year and claim that the lack of the new features is the reason they might do something about this

Isn't it only $300/year if you add the turn-by-turn?
