2014 fuse pull. Look at pix please.
Gm replaced my exhaust with the same. Brand new. Since they swapped exhaust the fuse was pulled so that all ports are always opened. Well please look at pictures and tell me why there is no carbon build up on one if the ports on each side. I read a bunch of threads in here about how it is louder. Well yes it is but even a little carbon on one of the ports should have a little bit at least do I put the fuse back in??. Im confused. Thanks for the help.

Can you see if the butterfly valve is open? It should be open all the time since you pulled the fuse.

Its one or the other not both.
Open = the path to the outside tips is used. Closed = the path to the inside tips is used. You can look down the outer tip and see the flap.. When the flap is closed the exhaust is diverted into the muffler instead of straight out. |

Exhaust gases travel thru the area with the least resistance. That's why the flat acts as a diverter.

Just FYI that second pic is the valve and it is open. Like others are saying the dirt probably just shows up more on the main pipe.

The npp is for people who don't always want the sound. Yes if you planned on pulling the fuse a muffler delete or different cat back would be a better option probably. But if the wife or kid get on your case about the noise pop that fuse back in and everyone's happy. That's why I like it

Open = both are open, however the majority goes out the outside pipe because its the path of least resistance Closed = outside pipe is closed. |
