Question Thumping noise

About 2 weeks ago I installed F&R Eibach lowering springs, and sway bars. About 1 week ago I had an alignment done. Tonight, after a long drive, I was heading home with the windows down and every time I hit a bump I heard a louder than usual thump. I think I pinpointed it to the front right, but not sure. Any clue?

I feel like if something were installed incorrectly it would have happened sooner. Could this be something like the exhaust knocking around?

Wow!

The louder thump sound definitely sounds odd. I know it can be confusing to not know what's actually causing that noise. Private message me if you'd like me to explore these matters further or schedule a GM dealership visit. Here to assist as much as I can.

Honestly, it's probably related to the lowering springs.

Could it be that is how hard they hit now, with the new springs on there and I didn't notice it until I had the windows down last night?

I've pulled my passenger tire off, inspected all the bolts...then inspected the strut tower brace nuts. Everything is good. Does anyone else have any suggestions?

could you be hitting the bump stops?

How much did the springs lower the car?

They lowered 1 inch all the way around. It is only happening on the front passenger side...it was good for 2 weeks now all of a sudden its making a loud noise. It sounds more like if the exhaust was knocking, but it isnt the exhaust. Could it be a bad strut?

Yep it sure can.

The most likely suspect though is the upper strut mounts. The factory 2010 front upper strut mounts were actually slightly revised for the 2012 models, or so i've read and heard.

Check your sway bar end links for play also.

I have BMR upper strut mounts...bc I have a BMR Strut tower brace.

The sway bar end links were loose on both sides, I tightened them...I think the problem was the wheel well cover was loose too. I used double sided tape as a spacer between the push-pin and the frame of the car and the cover. It was that or the sway bar end links.

Thanks guys!!!
