POSSIBLE?? TO ADD NAV TO 13 TOUCH SCREEN?

Does anyone know if I will be able to add Factory Nav to my Touch screen radio, seems like all the hardware is there already

Ted.

Good question. The physical faceplate is a bit different on units that have NAV from the photos I have seen. (The top 2 right side buttons have different functions). But I dont know that it would keep someone from adding the NAV.
Hope someone can answer as I have the Touch Screen but no NAV.

I think it is a different bezel/ control unit and a different head unit from what I have read.

Now that being said I don't think the parts cost of the units is hugely different but I think you would have to sell you unit and bezel.

when I looked upthe bezels the two part numbers were both ~$600 if I remeber right.

I have not seen anybody do it yet though my hope is that they would be plug and play and I could sell my head unit and bezel to someone who wants to add mylink to a 2012 and then add the nav to my car.

I talked to Scott at camarofest about this. His response was that
it could be done, but would be alot of work in rewiring things.
I got the impression the job would be a royal pain in the arse.

I personally don't think it will be that bad at all if you understand schematics. It is just getting ahold of the parts and how much they will cost.

I have done retro fit stuff in corvettes and as as you have the wiring diagrams it is easy as pie.

Not always cheap though. it is always cheper to go aftermarket.

The problem is right now this would have proably been the first week of production with the new nav unit. It would be getting your hands on the parts.

GM uses standard Delphi connectors So in the past I have been able to actually make the harnesses all plug just like stock.

there was rumor at one point that the NAV would lose some of the streaming features but I am not 100% on this.

this part will be availible at some point. The unit will go out and sevice will have to be able to replace them.

Yes you get turn by turn, but I needed the map. A map is important to have if looking for a street you do not know or cross street.

mylink has a GPS map and all, you can get either turn-by-turn thru onstar or use the onboard map routing
