Hit a Stupid Raccoon...

So I am travelling at around 70k, 2:45 AM and on the winding back roads, and a huge raccoon ran out in front of me. I slammed the brakes on, but wasn't ready to drive off the road to avoid it. Well I hit it, and heard chunks of something hitting the bottom of the car. I stopped, picked up all the pieces of plastic off the road, and moved the raccoon off the road, but also noticed the front splitter is I clipped from the thing it hangs on, and the entire lower extension piece is broken. It is around 650 plus tax on gm's parts e site, does anybody know where to look for cheaper parts? Pics tomorrow when it's bright out.

70 thousand mph is a little fast for a v6 isn't it?

If you had brembos you could have stopped in time.

Other than a few smartazz comments I can't really help, sorry. lol.
Do you know anyone that works for a dealer that is willing to use their discount? Other than that, you could make a insurance claim.

You did the smart thing by taking him out. A lot of people perhaps my self included would of tried to miss him and left the road maybe causing a lot more damage, injury and possibly your own life. Focus on that to ease your frustration. I love animals like most people but sometimes you have to be logical.

Very good advice!

In a panic situation, quite a few people try to avoid the obstacle.
Most of the time that does not work out very well.

Sorry to here about the damage, but the OP did the "smart" thing.
