Caddy 3.6 for 2014 being bumped to 330hp
Ok...so Caddy and the Camaro will share the same DI 3.6 engine....aaand ....the Caddy will get 330 hp and 280lb tq...so the Camaro being the performance version, I suspect for 2014 the Camaro will also get a bigger bump. Hopefully at least 340hp.

So they are getting almost 10 more horses out of the LLT or the LFX?

There's something else REALLY interesting on the spec sheet... how about an 8 speed auto!

I doubt if they go with 8 speed in the camaro. Should not be needed.

Would be nice if it were a twin clutch and shifted quicker than the A6 does....

If Chevy is nice enough to share the 3.6 with caddy, why can't caddy share the magnetic ride suspension with Camaro???

And the magnetic ride suspension is probably too costly to offer on a $23k Camaro. Perhaps as an option on the SS. |

Seriously....why can't Chevy come up with a DCT?

Probably the cost to actually engineer and install a automatic dual clutch that will perform on the same level as beemers and porches. Other mfg's tried the dual clutch route but came out worst than your traditional clutch(kia, hyundai, VW, etc..). It look like every car mfg's are going with more gears these days I'm not a auto guy but I would definitely try the 8spd auto. More gears, closer gear combo, better for power Tune out the tranny and it look like it could be some fun.

The article says this uprated engine has already been announced for the
2013 Camaro.. I hate it when Chevy does that! Hopefully these changes are something we LLT owners can take advantage of. |

It kind of suck that the 10-11 LLT is somewhat a discontinued powerplant by Chevy. The only thing I am jealous of post LLT is the tuning option they have. I would love to have EFI or HP as my tuning option. I wonder what Tampa is going to come up with for the LFX.

This is pretty cool and I hope it is true, but for now I'll chalk it up to "believe it when I see it" status.
Every source I've read is saying the 2013 ATS will be using the 318HP version of the 3.6, and also it will be using a 6 speed transmission. Now I know it isn't unheard of for changes like this to be made to the 2nd generation of a car, but going to a 330HP, 8 speed in the 2nd year would definitely make the 1st year quickly obsolete. I can see how an 8 speed would be good for fuel economy, but would it really help all that much in performance? Sure, it could keep the car in the "meat" of the powerband easier, but I see the added shifts being a bit of a hindrance. Just seems like it would be hunting for gears all the time especially when your driving aggressive. I really like the 6 speed how it is, but hopefully driving an 8 speed someday will make me change my mind. Anyways, getting back on topic...if this did turn out to be true, well then it just keeps getting better and better for the next gen Camaro. Using the alpha platform, weighing around 3,400 lbs and 330HP sounds so so awesome. I honestly can't see a reason to want an SS anymore...at least not for me. (I know some guys are go SS or go home and thats fine) But I'm already pretty happy with how my pig 3,750lb car performs with roughly 330 - 340HP under the hood. I'm sure a light weight version, with a few bolt ons pushing 350 HP would be pretty damn fun not to mention you could get into one for way under the price of an SS.

So why couldn't they deliver all this power this year? It's the same powerplant right? In a year they can come up with that much improvement?
