96 SStranny removal

Has anyone ever had to replace a clutch on a 4th gen ? I have pulled 30 to 40 transmissions through out the years. yet I can not get the trans to separate from the bell housing. All eight bolts are out and I can get it to separate about an inch.....wth is still holding.....Does the clutch fork go on inside of the throw out bearing? I really don't want to unbolt the bell housing yet, barely got to the tranny bolts.

If the trans is only sliding off a inch, pull the slave cylinder off and the slave spacer. You will see the clutch fork end. Pull it diagonally down and towards the driver side and it should pop out but stay there with the bolt and spring clip holding it in. I just pulled the trans out of my 97 the other weekend and had the same problem. Hope that helps
