Im sure there was still a 100-200 lb difference.

Two totally different cars IMHO and not worth comparing them. If a guy wants a Corvette he will get a Corvette and forgo a Camaro.
Did you READ my post? The 4th get LT1 Camaro and Corvette weighed roughly the SAME! Now the Camaro weighs almost 800 pounds MORE than the NON-aluminum framed base Corvette. Yes. Weight is a MAJOR issue with the 5th gen Camaro.

Did you read my posts?!?!?! OMG FREAK OUT!!!!

09 C6: 3217
10 Camaro: 3750 (estimate)

How is that 800 lbs?

To me it seems that GM made it important that the back seats on the 5th gen can be used. A 4th gen back seat is USELESS unless youve got two midgets for friends or small children.

Look weight is going to be an issue from here on out. Standards have increased and it costs money to lower weight. The C6 vette is the most expensive base vette ever offered. Why is that? Because GM has cut some of the weight out of it. Plus its still the heaviest vette ever offered. Does that mean it doesnt preform? No.

Just because a car is heavy doesnt mean it cant preform well. Which it seems to me is what you are implying and if you want a performance car to either get a used vette or a CTS-V.

Regardless EVERYTHING that Ive read has said that the Camaro's weight is a non-issue performance wise. It out handles a freakin 4th gen by a ton and will surprise a ton of people.

If weight is that much of an issue with you, stick to your Corvette and enjoy the huge premium you pay for it.

Corvette coupe--3217lb
SS manual--3860lbs
SS auto----3913lbs

The 2010 Camaro weighs AT LEAST 643lb more than a base model C6 Corvette.
The Camaro MAY only weigh 80 lbs LESS than a Pontia G8 SEDAN with FOUR doors and a back seat you could throw a party in.

Yes. Weight is definitely an issue for the new Camaro.

this thread is stupid.

you dont like the camaro and you feel like you have enough money to come online and complain about how 'You' could have done it better and downgrade people's work, than go buy a Corvette and be happy.

No one cares to hear you complain about things that cant be changed.

Why can't GM offer a "budget LS7" or LSA equipped Camaro?
Why couldn't GM drop some weight when the Camaro is refreshened?
Try thinking positively.

I already bought a new C6 Corvette. Two, to be exact. I purchased the coupe first for $41k and it ran easy 12's in the 1/4 mile. Think about that when you order a fully loaded Camaro SS that weighs as much, or MORE, as a G8 SEDAN with the SAME engine.

Budget and LS7 DONT go together. It never has and never will. LSA cost approx 10k themselves to build. Why in the hell would GM want to mass produce that in a car with a price as low as this? The Camaro would need a price of 50k+ to justify the LSA and then youll be complaining it costs too much.

a. why? because you know how shitty the REST of the car would have to be in order to compensate for the pricey engine??? use your head.

b. wrong. do your homework. G8-3900-4000

c. think about me and 3 girls riding in one camaro when your friends are sitting on each others lap's going to the movies.

the corvette is a 2 person sports car, not a 4 seater.

why dont you compare it to the 370z? another 2 seater... makes the corvette look expensive and overweight huh.

I thought final Curb Weight hasn't been finalized? And I could swear it was estimated around 3700lbs.

Of course the Corvette is a middle-aged man's car. This shouldn't even be up for debate. What person in their 20's or early 30's can afford a $43k sports car? The Corvette is the quintessential car that every man wants when they are 20, but can't afford until they are 45.

These are two separate cars and IMO, draw two different crowds. Folks from each crowd (again, this is my opinion) have a respect for one another. I don't want a vette. If someone is here looking for the best bang for the buck, they have TONS of choices...and not just from GM. I'm talking ALL types of cars. But, a few will agree with you. It just so happens that dollar for dollar, you can either have a SUPER DUPER ALL OPTIONED SS (every bell and whistle) or you can get a vette...new...adding in a couple to a few thousand....and don't forget. It's BARE BONES vette.

Or, you can buy a "gently used" vette with a bunch of miles....that you have no REAL history on. Sorry, but this does not make sense to me when you can have a new SS Camaro.

Why would I want a vette? I don't want a vette. I mean, I would take one. But, for the money, CLEARLY the Camaro is it. .97 G's on the skidpad...and the vette is what? 1.3? I imagine that there will be suspension package as well that will fix that EASILY. So, performance and handling will be great. Still...I don't want a vette. Two different cars.

Just my .02 cents and not trying to argue with you.
AGREED=]
