you can damage them....if you are not experienced at this thing. Polycarbonate is tricky stuff and I have seen people damage MC helmets by using the wrong remover.

Graffiti remover is pretty safe. That's what I sanction in my DIY thread. However, even with that there is still a potential to damage the plastic. That stuff is polycarbonate, so it's pretty sensitive.

Sanding is your safest bet - takes longer (a lot longer) but you'll have peace of mind knowing you're not damaging the plastic.

its a great DIY.... but like the author of the DIY says above, polycarb is tricky stuff - I would take them off and let a body shop spray them...JUST MY OPINION...have mod my response above as we are on the same page

Your suggestion definitely holds water for someone who is unsure. No matter what situation, the paint needs to be stripped off which is where the potential for damage lies. Hopefully a body shop will be able to do that more safely than a DIYer would.

All in all, sanding is the only way you won't irreparably damage the plastic, so you have to determine what's more important to you. The quick, easy and potentially risky way or the slow, difficult and certainly safe way.

so for the sanding of the parts what grit did you use and what did you do after sanding? Like did you have to make it shiny or does wet sanding take care of it?
