Replacing front hub assembly need some help

I am planning on replacing my front hub assembly myself and feel confident I can do it after watching a ton of YouTube videos and doing some Google searches. My question is this, do I need anything special in order to disconnect the hub assembly from the axel or is it as simple as taking the axel nut off, unbolting it from the arm and popping it off? Should I expect it to be difficult to get off that I should invest in a slide hammer?
