Inferno Orange cars will have orange interior lighting

Not exactly a "mistake" - It was a financial decision. V6 and V8 cars have to have totaly different insrument clusters. The V6 cars with the IOM coloring would have required a unique part and the volume was not expected to be high enough to justify a separate cluster for a V6 with IOM interior so they decied to keep the cluster blue on those particular V6 with IOM interior combinations. They cheaped it out.

Not necessarily I think it's more that people buying a v6 are less likely to get IO int so rather than not offer it at all to them they give them a taste. I think if your spending over 35K the least they can do is toss me an orangey cluster.

I think Fbodfather said it was an oversight- the IO interior was a last minute addition to the 2LT cars (at the insistence of enthusiast like us), and by the time production was scheduled it was too late to do the dash in orange to match. Adding seats and door panels from the 2SS line was easy, as was deleting the SS logos on the headrests. Changing the dash modules was too much work at such short notice.
