Question Electronic Shift Knobs (take 2)

I just cam across this while searching for shifter knob replacements and had never seen one before. Does anyone know anything about these? I assume it has motions sensing and, after an initial positioning session can tell what gear it is in. Has anyone ever used on of these? Do they work/look good?

*tried this in the electronics section but no takers*

It looks pretty neat buuuttttt........my hand is on top of the shift knob so the digital read out would be covered up most of the time. JMO

Here is an excerpt from the owners manual that describes how it functions:
"The digital gear display on the Indy-
Cator shifter knob functions on the
principle of calculating the difference
between two electronic sensors that
detect minimal changes in the shifter
knob‘s position. The result is indicated
on the display as the shifter
knob changes gears. Therefore, it
functions completely independent of
the vehicle transmission. The display
only changes when a change has
been reliably detected as a gearshift.
This may require 1 to 1.5 sec."
