Something I picked up in the chat
In reference as to why the zl1 name was chosen: 3:30 Al Oppenheiser:*The great thing about the ZL1 having so much performace and technology is that we can look at other Camaro opportunities on the SS and V6's to incorporate as appropriate. We are always looking!

It would be cool to have a factory turbo charged V6 no matter what they call it.

yep if they added a factory backed option that was fully installed and warranty at my local dealer for a decent price I would really consider it.... but then again with the new ZL1 on the way there will be lots of SS guys trading up.... shouldn't be too hard to find a good used SS also....

I didn't watch the video, so did they mention anticipated production runs? Traditionally, first Z28 productions have been small and the ZL1s have been miniscule. May not be as many available right off the bat as one might think.

I think they were talking about an indy open wheel race car.

Yes that is correct. They were speaking of a direct injection twin turbo V6 for Indy car application. It used to be that the Indy V8 had to be 2.5 liters or less and they would allow larger displacement for the V6's. That was back before that whole thing split into 2 different factions, CART and IndyCar. I'm wondering what the displacement will be for this racing engine-if it's at all close to 3.6L.
I guess the hope here is that racing technology will trickle down into passenger cars, namely the Camaro. I'd totally be down with a twin turbo V6 in a Z28 featuring less weight, better handling with acceleration slightly better than the current stock SS. That was what the original Z28 was all about.
