What are my chances
Hi guys my cousin just bought a 2017 SS auto. I have a 2012 M6 with 2in headers, ported TB,CAI intake,ADM scoop,3:91 gears, tuned and borla ATAK axle back.He wants to race and sit at my back tires.Would I be able to stay out front in a 1/4 mile race.

Chances are the gen 6 will still pull on you even if you have more power. Are you roll racing or dig?

May sound like stupid question, but barring driver exp and such how does a stock 2017, which is 455 hp before drivetrain loss, out run the modified car which probably around 415 to 420 to the wheels. The gears make them kind of even although the m6 has a higher gear ratio so their is bit more tq.
But if 455 hp is the stock car an average drivetrain loss is 20, that puts the wheel hp at around 365, . The m6 has aound 400hp because it's been modified. Not that huge of a difference but still some gap. Is their a huge weight diff?. Does the magnetic ride control create that much of an advantage. Not trying to cause an issue as I am no racer, but I find to hard to see based on the numbers , unless of course my numbers are off.

Your 365 rwhp for a Gen6 isn't even close! Stock 2017 autos are putting down between 415 and 420 rwhp and are 100 to 150 lbs lighter, they are under rated on power or the drive train loss is only 8% with the A8 and not 20% like the Gen5 A6 auto, plenty of stock 2017's running 12.0's to 11.90's even with street tires, the 3.91 gear will help the Gen5 M6 some along with the mods, but the Gen6 should still have the edge.

Because you are up against an auto from a Dig, at this power spectrum, i gotta lean with the 6th gen. If you had a cam or were a high stall auto i would lean with you. I could be wrong, you could be a badass driver and wheel your way around him. I hope you have a drag pack.

If your cousin doesn't drag race much and you get some practice in, launch hard off the 3rd yellow, hookup good, I bet he spins or delays and you win. Happens all the time, last night at TnT I had a new 2017 Camaro SS pull up to me in the staging lanes. I figured no way I would have a chance. We do our burnouts and roll up to the tree and stage. I figured I would just run my normal launch sequence and really concentrate on getting a quick reaction time. Third yellow illuminates and I'm off, I noticed out of the corner of my eye, he delayed about a tenth. He must have had a stick and not shifted very good because by the time I crossed the finish line I had him by at least 3 car lengths. So with all this speculation going on you never really know.
