Well, I can't wait till someone figures out how to fit 220 ware rated 325/30/20's rear and 275/40/19's front on the 2013 GT500 and shut all these C_NT_ up, including grandpa Corvette up there. Jamal needs to put some reeeeeeeel rubbbbbbbber on that F_CK_NG car, and quit talkin' understeer. Enough, Erik

This is a Camaro site and even if the new gt500
dominates the ZL1 is every timed category, a Camaro fan will find something else wrong with the gt500. Same can be said about Mustang (non gt500)fans but the Gt500 fans in general have are more accepting when defeated. I will never understand why it is so hard for some people to accept the likely and emminent possibilities and demand facts then when facts are presented, they demand something else, it goes on and on. Blind fan boys will be blind fan boys no matter what car forum (for the most part.)

It must of been a dealer installed item and I am pretty sure FRPP has yet to release a CAI for the 2011+ 5.0L Mustang as seen here.
http://www.buyfordracing.com/categor...Cold-Air-Kits/

BTW- I never disagreed with you about the 5.0L's factory tubular exhaust manifolds just the fact that they and a non-existent FRPP CAI were only added after the fact to overcome the Camaro SS superior acceleration times during its initial testing.

I which call

Since yours and every other factory 5.0L intake doesn't say "Ford Racing" on it as described by ParisTNDude and all 5.0L's dont have a typical CAI exposed element I'm still guessing he saw something different then stock 5.0L air box that looks no different then the Camaro's.

I have more to say on this, but for now, instead of calling him clueless, why not give him what he asked for?

The answer to that is fairly obvious.

Here is a stock 2011 GT500 with the PP.

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...ack-times.html

Best time of 12.03 @ 115 in 87 degrees and bogging.

Same guy later ran 11.94 with sticky tires @ 116.

Moving forward, same driver progressed through high 11's to mid 11's on drag radials, with more practice in a stock GT500 (power wise)

Now, with Slicks/Skinnies and a healthy burnout, completely stock otherwise, ran an 11.11 @ 124 followed by a 11.27 @ 123.

The ZL1 should see similar times with a tire and a good driver that has some practice.

Here is a 2010 GT500 that weighed in @ 4180 with a little over a 1/4 tank of gas with Lower Control arms/Upper Control arms, stock rubber and stock power levels.

http://www.modularfords.com/f128/new...-gt500-140528/

11.6 @ 117.

Autoblog ran a 12.3

I never alluded to any ZL1 running mid 11 second runs...only that the MT driver said that he had run sub 12 second runs. None of this really confirms what the 2013 GT500 will run and we all know it. Again, Ford will not release the 2013 GT500 unless it will beat the ZL1 in the 1/4 mile just as they did with the Mustang 5.0. Being last to release a performance car sometimes has it's advantages as both Chevy and Ford know. I'm anxious to see a head to head run with the ZL1 and the current GT500 and when Ford produces the 2013, that comparo as well. It will be good for both sets of supporters.

You realize the 5.0 was basically a done deal before the Camaro ever hit the streets, right? Deisgning, tweaking, duability testing, and getting a new motor certified is a multi year deal. THey can't just say "oh, thats quicker than us, lets just add this to the car when we start building them next month". It just doesn't work that way.

^ X2.

Also, the fastest stock 5.0 record came out within 1-2 months of the car being released IIRC.

What points are even being argued any more?

I think it's probably safe to say a ZL1 and a 2012 GT500 would be drivers race in the 1/4 mile, I say look no farther than power-to-weight ratio for that. Of course there is more to it than that, but still they are almost identical in that regard.

Similarly, I think it is also safe to say that if 2010-2012 GT500s have hit 11s bone stock, a ZL1 will eventually do the same.

l think it would be a crying shame if the 650hp GT500 can't hit high 11s in the magazine tests, based solely on what we know now. Besides drag radials are just too cheap and easy to remedy any limitations of the stock street tires if for some reason the 2013 GT500 is still stuck in the low 12s.

Personally, I only remain skeptical on the 2013 GT500s road course prowess. Note I said "skeptical" not "in denial" I just want to see/read reviews before I make a judgement.

On another note, I'm pretty sure the ZL1 was tested against a Boss 302 LS, because they are both marketed as the more track oriented models of their respective brands. Not because anyone was afraid of testing a ZL1 vs. a 2012 GT500 on a road course. Besides I think for the time being, the Mustang Boss 302 LS is the sweetheart of the media, at least until the 2013 GT500 is out on the roads. I can't tell you how many times I've read that the Boss 302 is the best mustang ever.

I personally can't wait for the $h!tstorm that will be this forum when the '13 GT500 vs. the ZL1 review finally hits the public. I pretty sure no matter who wins, it will be a circus of excuses and explanations
