My small and mini review of the New Era CAI on my newly purchased SS. (pics inside)
I decided to go with the New Era CAI because I've been reading good things about that system. as usual, I took several pictures showing the installation from start to finish.
this first shot shows the New Era CAI itself. It has a rectangular shaped K&N and the weld spots are very nice. I don't know if this or any other Camaro SS CAI system is worth $500 but I said what the heck. second shot shows the stock air intake system removed and out of the way. I can't believe how big the throttle body is on these V8s. that's crazy. third shot shows us removing the two upper radiator mounting brackets from the front end. this is to move the upper half of the radiator slightly back so the new CAI can get plenty of cool, non-engine compartment air. fourth shot is moving the upper part of the radiator slightly back. again, this is to get some very good (and cool) air flow. next is installing the air diverting panel to shoot air in an upwards motion. this will get scouped up by the New Era system. and last but not least, a few shots of the finished product. I must say my engine sounds really throaty now. I can't wait for my exhaust to come in as well as my Diablo Pred. tuner. |

What does the filter look like on this unit?

What kind of exhaust are you going to get? Dyno numbers before and after any mods are always nice to have for benchmarking to see what you got for the $$$. |

Not to answer the question but I am guessing longer bolts to replace the stock bolts...and are there spacers to hold in the pulled back position?
I really like this cai, any dyno figures?

ironically nothing. well, kinda sorta. the bottom part of the CAI box has these two brackets that fit in to the two tabs of the upper half of the radiator. so in reality, the only thing that's holding the radiator forward is from the CAI system itself. it's being pushed forward from being coupled against the throttle body. it does some kinda cheezy but the system is very secure and it isn't going anywhere.
this has to be one of the coldest air intake systems on the market simply because it's getting a straight shot of fresh air straight from the front end. not only that but the air traveling is a straight shot straight to the throttle body. I don't think it gets any more "ram air" than this. |

Thank for the photo. I spent some time under the hood the past couple of days mounting and wiring a 9500ci. It doesn't seem like there much of a space to pull air right above the radiator. Did you do any cutting or just add the flow diverter?
