I thought the Milford track was a combo/type course using similar features from other tracks...Meaning given it's time(s) there, it would be plausible to calculate it's times at other tracks...That's why Milford was used initially...Just sayin' faster there would be faster anywhere...dunno...just curious...

Well Milford replicates certain sections of famous tracks but that's not quite the same as running the entire Nurburgring. The Ring is in a class all by itself and just beats the living crud out of cars and drivers. Spring rates, shock damping, suspension geometry and tires are EVERYTHING on that track which is why the ZL1 with it's constantly-adjusting magnetic suspension did so well even though it's such a heavy car.

This new Z has it all; springing, damping, geometry and fantastic tires. And it has an absolutely first class engineer/driver in charge of tweaking and development. With all the resources available to him to "get it right" combined with his knowledge, skill, talent and experience...this is going to be spectacular.

Not sure how accurate this information is as it posted over on the SVT forum. But to sum it up the Z28 in it's present form is not as fast as the ZL1, the car was getting upset in the turns due to bumps and stiffer suspension.

Posted by ThePill, who you may not agree with but he does seem to have a knack for obtaining inside information.

"there is a serious issue with suspension, handling or braking. The Z28 is REAL uncomfortable right now in corners. If that's the case, seems like Team Camaro is running their mouth before the car is even done... Simulations maybe? Either way, the way the car was running a few weeks ago, it is not breaking records as is.The car will make a revised run later this year... probably Fall '13. The ZL1 can reach over 170mph on the 3km stretch, the Z28 was about 165... The only place Chevy really seemed to mash the throttle."

That sounds like competitor trash talk. The videos do not back that up at all. The Z/28 taking corners in the videos looks VERY comfortable; it's fast, flat, solid and very quick on the exit. Mark Stielow isn't a showboat; he delivers and lets the results do the talking.

Yep, thepill is obviously correct. And all of those championship trophies at the GM performance office are all fake. Team Chevrolet obviously has no idea what they are doing.

i originally thought it would be about 10 seconds quicker than the ZL1 but in one of those videos the car is just on a tear. Id say 7:25 and might nip the Z07s numbers of 7:22

That would be extremely impressive but I don't see that happening. I believe this Z/28 is going to be a track monster I can't see it being that good though.

I am going to respectfully disagree.

the Z06 with Z07 package did the ring in 7:22, and the Z06 weighs in at 3175 pounds according to Chevy. The 3400 pound ZR1 with and additional 130 HP and 130 lb/ft did it in 7:19.68

The Z/28 is with the same engine as the Z06 is gonna weigh in at around 3800 lbs (from what we have seen), I know its pretty much a full on race car, but the suspension, tires, and brakes are gonna make up for that extra 625 pounds? I don't know that would be a hell of an accomplishment for team Chevy.

So my prediction is 7:30.00, which puts it right up there with some very high dollar, high performance cars
