I need to check my storage to see if I kept the old straps and bolts. Can't remember what was discarded from all the mods. I removed them 2 years ago to install swaybarB package.

If I need to buy straps, should I get the FE3 or FE5? GM must've made the straps bigger for a reason, right?

The clamp dimensions are next to identical with the exception of height. The FE3 straps are available on line for something like $3 each.

The shim will last as long as the bush, so there is no concern about durability or longevity. Some OEMs build vehicles using a bush and a base (shim) for more control. i.e. less bush material translates into more control. We are talking about a 3mm shim with a very dense bush so there will be no performance gain or loss with the shim and bush compared to the bush with the thicker base. We really didn't want to make this information available to other suspension companies , but we want to make sure our clients get the right bits

Our thinking was that anyone who orders the FE4 / FE5 arms must have an FE3 suspension. Those that don't order the conversion kits must be FE4 owners. Sneaky, but pretty accurate Making this information public is the best way to make certain we ship the right parts to every client
Also notice the holes are bigger on the 2012s for the thicker studs sticking out of the chassis that bolts this C clamp.

My understanding is the convert still has the FE3 sways.

So the question is should I upgrade to the FE4 sways, ZL1 FE4 sways or your FE5 sways?

This car is a DD and does not see a road course. I do expect to drop it 1.25" in the future.

Can you look under the back of your car and see? If the sway bar is attached to the lower control arm outside of the strut it's FE4. Inside of the strut, FE3.

If it's FE3 and you upgrade (to FE4/5), you'll need the new lower control arms to facilitate the sway bar. Which bar to get? Since it's your DD, the FE4 should suffice I would think.

Interesting Question. Your vert is a 2012 and as such should have the new style rear arm. If there is a hole in the bottom of the arm near the hub, you won't need new arms regardless of the bar installed at the factory.

Does this help?

On the bottom of the LCA, on the outer side of the strut bolt(nearer the tire), there is a hole. The hole is reinforced on the arm. It should look like Pete's picture. This is the newer style lower control arm. You need this hole for the new style swaybar endlink mount. Older style arms will only have a hole directly under the strut.

If you have the newer style LCA, you have both swaybar style options. If you're not planning on running road course or autox, any upgraded swaybar option is better than your original stock bar.

That's the FE3 like the 10's and 11's. So more than likely you'd need the news lower control arms as well.

I just saw what Sting wrote. If that's the case it would be just the bar to upgrade. Otherwise, you need new control arms as well.

I just checked and the LCA is the same one in Pete's 2nd picture.

So what does that mean?
