ZL1 or supercharge my SS?

Pros and cons? I want more power but sure if its worth going down the aftermarket road vs trading in the SS. What was your decision process?

If you want all the other BS that goes with the ZL1, go that way. If not SC the SS.

The ZL1 has a stronger drivetrain than the SS,if you can swing it get the ZL1.

Realistically what's it going to cost me to go the SC route? I would have it done. Not sure what else is needed above and beyond the SC.

Really depends on your goals and what you plan to do with the car.

Go with the AGP turbo kit as this will give you the greatest flexibility for future power bumps.

I bet you could get the AGP TT setup for about $8500 installed.

If you are absolutely set on SC, then you have to decide between centri and PD.

thanks. Not set on a SC. I'll do some research on the turbo.

If you go over to the ZL1 forum you will get different answers there. GM really beefed up the ZL1 right from the factory. I started with the ZL1 because I like the mag-ride suspension and all the extra cooling and downforce built into the stock car. It is heavier but everything is more robust. I don't know anyone that went from an SS to a ZL1 that was disappointed in the trade. As a matter of fact there are a lot of ZL1 owners that had modified SS's. I recommend the ZL1 myself.

The signature from this post should answer your question. You can spend loads of money on a SS or a ZL1 and ultimately end up with basically the same car but the starting point is cheaper with the SS.

If the ZL1 is so great, what is the need for all the mods?

I'd go with the ZL1. You get the power and a warranty!

I haven't seen a modded SS on this forum that can compete with any modded ZL1,plus the drive train on the ZL1 is a lot stronger than the SS.

With enough money, anything, within reason, can be made faster than anything else. The only thing original on my SS is the M6. I have the ZL1 rear cradle and driveline for just the reason you stated.

My point to the OP is he already has a great platform, why lose value on it for trade-in. If he blows the LS3 or L99, he can drop a crate LSX under whatever supercharger he selects.

I swapped my out before I blew the stock engine and I am very happy with the results. I still have the stock engine on a stand in my garage for back up.

If the mag ride is that important get the ZL1. Everything else is a bolt on.

BTW, with the 20x10s on the front, you can't drop as far as a SS with coil overs.

My other post has a lot of merit to it.

ZL1 will be worth more than a modded SS.

You would have to give up the 45th edition. But you'd have warranty again. You'd have a car that has more power and was built to handle that power, over having a car that may require beefing up in areas as you add more ponys to it. Really up to what you want to get into. The ZL1 will be worry upgrade to a supercharged Camaro with everything built to support it. Or the SS that is your own 1 of a kind vehicle that.
