New Era CAI installed on ZZ Motorsports Camaro

Well I finally received our CAI from New Era today....

Yes we do sell them!!! and we will be placing a large order this week, so if you want one, get a hold of me!!

First let me say this....The intake is extremely well built, and the fit is perfect. I purchased this in "raw" finish because I plan to fully polish it to match the engine covers in the future....but the raw finish looks sweet!

So here are my thoughts:

When I first opened the box I was impressed with how well the product was packaged to prevent shipping damage. It was in perfect shape. I was pleasantly suprised to find illustrated instructions that made this install very simple.

The install took me under 45 minutes and that included me having trouble with one part, the valve breather tube. I then realized that it spins and is very easy to remove WHEN YOU DO IT RIGHT!! HAHA.

After that, everything goes into place very easily, and it really cleans up the engine bay. I took the car for a quick drive...nothing hard, it was raining really bad. But I did notice that the throttle response is much better than the stock airbox, and it was obvious that the "ram air" effect is there. I am very happy with the intake.

As for the thought of the filter getting wet in the rain...No problem, the kit comes with a shield that is to be installed for street driving...It keeps any water out of the filter...it can be removed for track driving if you really wanted to.

With all of this being said...here are the pictures of it installed on my car:

Any pics of CAI before install? So we can see where the filter is arranged. Also, kinda weird how the plug is straight up instead of on the side. Thanks

Sorry I do not have a before picture. If you see the two small allen screws on the side of the intake.....they hold on the face of the intake. That face holds in the air filter which is an oiled type filter. Great quality product.

I was also turned off by the placement of the MAF....I was told that there was a functional reason it had to be placed there.

so how difficult is it going to be to change/clean the filter????
Is the "rain shield" installed? if so where & can you get a better shot that shows its placement?? Would like to see pics of everything before install...
Thanx for the post

The filter can be changed by pulling the unit out, and then removing 4 screws...No big deal at all.

As for the rain shield it is installed. It is the small piece of aluminum that is the forward most part. It is bolted to the front of the engine bay and extends downward. The intake then pushes up against it.

You can find the dyno numbers in the vendor thread...they had an introductory sale, and that is where they posted a dyno printout....great stuff!!

As for a group buy, I am going to wait until production ramps up so I get a good price...Right now I am going to be placing a large order this week...retail is just over 500 bucks, and worth every penny. if you would like one from this order they will be about 2 weeks out. Get in touch if you want one!!!
