Coilovers
Thinking of getting a set.
What are the advantage to go with Coilover over lower springs? |

Coil overs are on a different level. With lowering spring you have no control over ride height or dampening, with coil overs you can custom tune both of those things. This means a much better ride or performance than you will get out of lowering springs. There is usually a nice reduction in weight as well.

Like Chase said, complete adjustability is the big advantage. You can adjust ride height and dampening levels. If you get a "double-adjustable" coilover, you can adjust compression and rebound independently. Makes it real easy to make adjustments between road course, drag racing, and street set-ups!!! However you want it is just a few "clicks" away. Ride height adjustments take a little more work, but still pretty easy.

For me, the biggest advantage was ride comfort. I had eibach lowering springs and stepped up to coilovers. Very happy i made the move.

Ride comfort, adjustability in height and damping, and much better handling when setup right. Coilovers also give you the ability to corner balance. If it's in the budget, Coilovers are hands down the way to go; especially with the black Friday sales going.
Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions! Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |

I had Eibach springs and I really liked how they made the car look and it felt stock ride wise. I stepped up to the Pedders Supercar Coilovers this weekend, and wow is there a difference, I would suggest Coilovers (any set) if you can afford them over springs. They make you feel so much more planted!

Basically everything has been already mentioned in terms of benefits. Adjust ability in dampening, ride height as well, better overall quality, lesser weight, pretty much everything you can think of aside from the cost, is better in comparison to springs.
Just do your homework on which coilovers are the best out there. My allegiance is with KW, but that's because I came from a European scene since that's where I started from, but they are DAMN good coilovers. |

I'm doing springs with the Pfadt stage III ZL spec kit as Phase 1 of my suspension upgrade, and am planning to do coilovers later due to the cost of $3000+ (including labor). In-case you can't afford to do it all at once (I can't), I've seen many people prioritize other suspension upgrades over coilovers as a starting point (i.e. sway bars, rear trailing rods, rear tie/toe rods, bushings, etc), even for track use.

Coilovers
Thanks everyone. I have a full suspension it talks with Matt from FSP, including PFADT coilovers.
Couple of questions: Will I be able to adjust the height at my leisure or will that have to be done by the shop. If I can do it, is it hard? And would I need to realign? Sent from my 2SS/RS Last edited by nyrfan; 11-26-2013 at 05:17 PM. |

Not sure on the Pfadt ones but generally, yes w/o a shop
If I can do it, is it hard? - nope won't be hard. Very easy since you just have to jack up the wheel then use the supplied wrenches and twist and repeat on all four corners. Dependany on the type of COs might have to take a bolt off the lca to twist it. And would I need to realign? - nope (less you drastically change it)
