Looking for feedback from V6 owners

Ok, so I'm in the market for a Camaro. I will definitely be getting one, just not sure which yet. No question that the V8 puts the V6 to shame with 100+ more HP, but my question is what's wrong with the V6?

Even at 300 horses, that isn't too bad. I guess what I'm after here is some responses from current V6 owners. Are you in anyway disappointed with the car? Do you wish that you would of went all out and got the SS?

For a few thousands bucks more, the V8 may be envious, just not practical though. For myself at least, I'm not rich, so the few extra grand for the V8 is a big decision. By looking to save some money, I'm wondering if I will be content with a 2LT V6? I guess I'm open to everyone's opinions and suggestions, but I'm most interested in those who own the V6 have to say.

Any and all feedback, comments, and suggestions are most very welcome and appreciated

Love it love it love it. Sure I'd trade straight up for an SS but I don't regret my decision at all.

I had to choose between 1LT and no Camaro - not a 1LT and SS...

What are your primary "objectives"? What vehicle are you coming out of? Have you test-driven any of them? I'd say do a test drive and see if 304 horses are enough for you. I personally find plenty of excitement in a manual V6 - the automatic V6 seemed to require a lot more stomping of the gas pedal to feel the power in my seat. Great fuel economy with the V6. I personally wasn't in the market for a $30K car, so I'd have never bought a V8 anyhow, but if I was looking at a few thousand more between a 2LT and an SS and I didn't mind the lesser fuel economy of the V8, I'd be inclined to throw down a few more thousand and go all the way.

I love my car. It's the 1LT/RS, adn I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm not at all disappointed that I didn't get the SS, never factored it at all after driving the v6. IMHO, the v6 was more then enough car for what I wanted. Top it off with better gas mileage, cheaper insurance and slightly better handling, and it's a winner.

Plus, I get to mod it just as I would a v8!!

I have the 2LT/RS and love it. I drive it in the snow, and it goes great.

Sure, the V8 would be nice, but saving some green and getting the better gas always helps. Plus, I do not race or anything, so that extra HP would not really get used all that much.

I echo the above post--LOVE the car. If you haven't had 300 horse on tap with a manual trans lately, you will flipping drool over the LT. I have the 2LT and opted for the 6-speed stick. If you want a little more of a fun factor and traffic isn't an issue, I highly recommend the third pedal. It makes driving it so much more fun (FYI I did drive the tapshift and that also makes it fun but not like clutching it).

The LT will take you sideways from a dead stop and get 28 or 29 on the highway. Can't say enough about the car!

You mention that the V8 might not be practical... why do you think it wont be?

i actually have both a 2SS and 2LT and the one real thing that bothers me about the v-6 is the exhaust tone, its not horrible just something about i dont care for, every aftermarket exhaust for v-6 sounds like it belongs on a honda civic so im keeping it stock until something better comes along, other than that there really is no bad, plenty of power,it really comes down to options ,my suggestion would be if you get the v-6 get a 2lt with the rs package,we love the look of the rs and the connectivty package is awsome.my two cents, good luck

You will be pressing the pedal down hard and the tires will be expensive to replace as the burnout factor will be fun, if your into that.

I LOVE MY 1LT 300 plus HP and a 2 year son loves it too, daddy's maro is all be talks about when we go out.

It handles OK for the snow in Chitown area too.

Well the way I look at it is, if you are not going to "Hot Rod" around town or on the highway, or feel a need to strut your manhood, or feel the need to show off, or need to hear the V8 Sound. You will be right at home with a V6.

I have grown up and have no need to show off to anyone, I don't care for the loud sounds of the V8, I don't care what other people think, I just love the look of the Camaro and I have always loved the 69 Camaros, I figured this is as close as I will get to one again. Plus the 10+ thousand dollars I saved not getting a maxed out SS is fine too..

There is nothing wrong with getting the V6 IF you don't care about how quick you are or whether your car makes that one of a kind V8 rumble. I like both the V6 & the V8, your choice depends on what qualities you are looking for out of the Camaro. MPG? Lower insurance? Performance? Luxury? Good luck in which ever Camaro you choose.

I don't own one, but I rented one for a day and was quite impressed -- plenty of power and fun for any normal driving (and then some) and the mileage was better than expected (in a similated commute with mostly highway I actually got better than the rated 29 mpg, according to the computer)

You can try it and see for yourself -- rent one from Avis (only at major airport locations) for about $100/day and see what you think.
