Don't Like it? Suggit.

I'm curious about shorties myself. I realize the gains are marginal, but the sound could be worth it- if it sounded right...

On the exhaust...its a no go. The shortys wont make any power, and long tubes are illegal. Not to say people dont install them, but when smog time comes, you will have to swap back. I personally use American Racing Headers period. On the Supercharger...Kenne Bell all the way. The L99 is going to be a challenge due to the cam scenario, and the fact the auto robs so much power. Keeping the car stock with just a Kenne Bell Supercharger and a catback will give you 500 RWHP. 100 octane gas will give you 590-600 rwhp. The transmissions on the L99 cars require alot of tuning to make them live.
If you want to do a build, then you could do a combo similar to mine. I used all factory GM parts to stay emmissions legal. I went LS3 cam and lifter package, Kenne Bell Supercharger, cat back, and a forged 8.5:1 short block. On 91 pump we make 615 rwhp, on octane adder (Torco) we make 648 rwhp. Splash some race gas in the car , and we make 690 rwhp. Im currently woking on the fuel system right now, and will push the car higher, but still on the stock fuel pump right now. If you are in the area, let me know, and we can go for a ride. The car drives like stock...til you nail it.... Than all hell breaks loose. Will definitely put a smile on your face. Thanks Adam |

shorties (can be worth up to 5 rwhp)
longtubes (can be worth up to 40rwhp) as for the legalities of it all please feel free to give us a call no one in so-cal has been in the LSX game longer than us. Give us a call and I would be more than happy tto go over any of your questions. Thanks Mike Haddad 310-412-8032 |

Again I want to thank everyone for your input. But my worst fear is realized in the fact that the L99 isnt the best place to start. And the fact that technically it is the wifes weekend car, Hence the auto. So back to plan B my own Camaro Maybe a Z-28??? if I can wait. And I'll be walking away from this thread with a much better understanding of the build, giving me a headstart next time.
Sincerly Robert. |
