Why do you say the Ecoboost is a joke? its been a huge sales hit for Ford. Everybody I know with them absolutely loves them. They have been getting the advertised MPG. The only knock that some have, is that when Towing the MPG really suffers but the truck still pulls like a champ

I know a few guys with the ecoboost and none of them are getting advertised economy numbers.

No offense GM, but if you're going to release information on an "all-new" truck design, you need to at least give a hint at the projected towing/trailering capabilities.

I would like to know if a 1500 will be sufficient to haul my trailered Camaro now, or if I will still need a 2500 to comfortably trailer a 3800-pound car...

Because the cost of tweaking the platform to build 2 different 1/2 tons is far less than the profit made by selling an extra hundred thousand or so trucks. Just because the trucks are similar doesn't mean that every Sierra buyer would immediately switch to a Silverado. In fact I think I heard recently that a sizeable percentage of Sierra buyers don't even cross shop against the Silverado.

Hopefully there will be some monster rebates on the '12s/13s.
Aerodynamics & styling can be deceptive. A shape that looks to the layman like it should be super sleek might not be, and likewise a vehicle that looks like a brick can be surprisingly smooth. There are all sorts of funny little rules & tricks for aerodynamic design, and even more tricks that designers can play to make something look one way when its really another.

Even if it did meet your needs, you can't buy it for half a year or so anyways so whats the point in knowing the details? At any rate, you can count on it being more than the outgoing model (10,000+ max), because its always more than the outgoing model. I expect that the 4.3 should be able to meet your towing needs (but not by much), the 5.3 would be fine, and the 6.2 would be more than adequate.

On that note ... I hate how automakers tease out the release of a product these days. The first time the public should see the design is right before it goes into production. It seems to me that by showing off the amazing new products you have up your sleeve, you discourage people from buying your current vehicles.

I'm less than impressed. They look very similar to the old trucks, and the interior isn't much of a step up.

Why'd they even put rear doors on it?

Have you ever tried to get into the 2nd row of a truck with only 2 doors? And if so, did you enjoy the experience?
