Looking forward to them being released. I am thinking I will only be grabbing the intake though. 17% air flow increase isn't too shabby!

Before dropping your hard-earned coin on mods, you might want to read this on Jalopnik - "Here Are Five Performance Mods That Are Utterly Useless ":

And the gm CAI is not the shory type they are talking about. Every one of their worthless mods was an over simplified generalization too.

When I did my Airaid CAI, ported throttle body, and catback exhaust, the butt dyno reported a very different feeling machine. Not all gains are full on power.., improvements in throttle response, or at least the feeling of an improvement were very noticeable. A vast improvement in the low end was immediately apparent.
Also my average MPG went up from 19.5 to 22.2. Both calculated by the computer and by hand. This was a rolling average with consistent driving conditions over an extended period of time so the numbers were solid. GM engineers aren't stupid and GM doesn't just throw money at a vehicle for no apparent reason, but they have to find a happy medium for their target audience. Your stock Air intake has three Helmholtz resonators hanging on it to eliminate drone, same with your OEM exhaust systems, so the person wanting to have a smooth drive can hold a conversation at 75mph. The L99 has extensive resonators to kill the nasty sounds of AFM kicking in and out. If the larger CAI didn't do anything, why did they put it on the Z/28? They could port and polish every part of your intake, but the cost increase would not be worth it. It's all about balance and getting their vehicles to pass the governments CAFE standards for a price that will still attract customers. Once it's out the door, it's up to you to make it "yours". I think most of us are smart enough to know that Halogen Blinker Fluid, Counter Balanced Marzlevanes, dinglegarms, and Semi bolloid rotating planetary spindle valves are a bunch of BS. There are plenty of people around here that make mods and document the results. That's good enough for me. |

Jalopnik has gone to crap years ago... I could care less what they say. They are more interested in publishing "I TOOK MY CAR TO CARMAX" bs and call it "newsworthy".

Yes the "article" was oversimplified but at least it points to some concerns to be alert to - and the need for verification of claims. There are still a lot of people out there who think jamming a K&N filter in their airbox gives an automatic 15 hp boost....
Jalopnik has become such a grab-bag of cross-posted crap it's getting hard to bother with these days. Who wants to read posts about warships or passenger jets on a car site ffs? |

I wonder why the 14.6" rotors that come with the p/n 23245471 package are slotted and not solid like the ATS-V's. I think I'd prefer the solid ATS-V style.

Wow, lots of Jalopnik hate here. What do you want them to do - just rehash articles from other websites or report boring industry news like most other automotive blogs do?
I like them - they're entertaining with very knowledgeable contributors. |

That's the claim, but I'm curious how much benefit the slotted design really has over blanks. For what it's worth, both the ATS-V and CTS-V have blank rotor designs.
One good thing is it looks like the slots are directional so at least could be optimized for each side. |
