Header x pipe no tune

Will a 2010 2ss L99 run ok, with a cai, bored throttle body and 2" headers high flow cats and x pipe with out a tune? My Dad finely put his car back to stock and said the tune is no good b/c was only 14.1 miles to gallon and now back over 21, with just cai on the car. He wants to ad the other parts but wants to run it with out the tune other then going to the track.

It will run, but with headers you really should get a tune. Without one you will get a CEL, either immediately or eventually, and will be leaving a lot of power on the table. Not all tunes are created equally, find someone who knows what they are doing.

When you add air you have to add fuel but he shouldn't be getting 14 mpg. Like I said, finding someone with experience makes all the difference when it comes to tunes.

Once he went back to the stock tune he said he got over 21mpg, that is like a 30+% swing.

I have a 1SS A6 that is exactly 23 days old and it's my daily driver. 1,032 miles BONE STOCK in Florida with cooler temps right now 40s ~60's and i'm getting 17.2mpg 80% city 20% highway.

14 seems ridiculously low.

was Ted made aware of all the mods and their specs? Who talked to Ted? I know I wouldn't let my dad talk to the tuner about my car cuz he doesn't know as much and might leave something out or give the wrong info, etc.

well Ted stands behind his tunes so you can probably call him up and he'll tell you to do some data logging then send it to him and he'll revise the tune accordingly

Yeah might as well wait for now, He is waiting for his tax refund and picking up the exhaust from Ted and getting the board throttle body. SO Ted should hook him up with a different tune.
