Is replacing the factory BA amp worth it?

I find the stock BA sound system weak and not enough for my liking. What have you done to put more sack in your stock system?

I installed a JLXD400x4 amp and Infinity speakers that made the system a lot better. Even just changing the amp makes a lot of difference.

Changing the boston amp alone will give your system a huge improvement in volume and sound quality. Changing the speakers in front would be the next step, though bear in mind you will lose a little volume as the current speakers (stock) are 2 ohm and most aftermarket ones are 4 ohm. It's worth it though.

Change everything out. The BA systems are garbage.

in the prosess of figuring out what I want to use, looking at the JL amp previously mentioned and an alpine that is similar, front speakers are a definite, still not sure about the read deck speakers. got some time til spring to decide. I had a 710W alpine amp and polk components in the doors in my V6 Camaro before trading it in. the sound was night and day. the BA has more speakers but is way too underpowered. gonna remedy that come spring!

It is very worth it to swap amps. It also sets you up for replacing the speakers, whether you decide to do it right away or down the road.

Steve do you have any amp suggestions? Spending a grand on an amp is out of the question.

Look for amp replacement threads. Lots of 4 channel options. JL and alpine seem to be some of the favorites... I went JL XD 400 route and a separate amp for the subwoofer kit from ********.

You mean 8 speakers.

2-front mids
2-front tweets
2-rear mids
2-rear tweets

That's the beauty of the fark. Without it, it is much more difficult to make everything work.

Oh Steve: question for you. I have some JL c2 690 6x9 for the rears.

When I replace the factory BA 6x9 for those, I have the FARK kit in there. Where do I cut the rear plug off to connect the aftermarket speaks? Do I just snip off the end plug or do I snip so it's just two straight wires to the speaker from the factory connector? I remember something vaguely about a crossover or something those plugs did in the FARK kit for the rears because of the integrated tweeter
