Engine Failure: Repaired and now incredibly slower...
Man what a day...hell what a last couple of weeks.
Long story short, my engine failed, car wouldn't start. GM said it was a spun rod bearing. GM out of "good will" repairs the issue all for free. GM blames Valvoline Purolator oil filter. Longer story. I get the car back, romp it and what once was a decently aggressive engine in first gear. Before my tires would break loose, regardless of surface. All that is gone. In it's place is a Ford Taurus motor. Before it would break torque...very easily. Now nothing. Zero. Zilch. TT, etc all disabled. K&N CAI, Flowmaster Axle back. All means nothing. The car is below stock, WAY below. Am I missing something? Is there a break in period where the beast that once was will reappear? Should I take it back in? I feel royally screwed on a car I have 3 years left to pay on. Guys its so bad it feels like a 4 cylinder. Not sure who to blow up on this. Thoughts? |

Sorry to hear that . Hope the beast wakes up but would definitely take it back and let them tell you what's the deal.

I would take it back to the dealer or another dealer for a second opinion.

Another thing I noticed is my voltages now say 13.9v constant where they were 14.4v constant before. Uploading the work order I received, this thing is laced with part replacements including the starter...

I couldn't let that one go without talking to the dealership.

Did they repair or replace the motor. Mine had a spun bearing, and they had me drive it in for service(seriously). By the time I got there the engine was spent, so they ordered a new one.
I've actually noticed an increase in power, and a decrease in oil consumption...as in none. It did take a couple weeks to "smooth" out. Maybe it will perk up soon.

Mileage in 35689?? And they repaired it out of "good will"? Isn't that within the warranty period? Or did I miss something?
I'm not entirely familiar with this model yet, as I just bought one 2 months ago ... but have read a few things here and there about limp mode when there's certain problems?? Just an idea. Hope you get it sorted out!

depending on it's in-service date it might be past the 36 months.. i.e. if he took delivery in 2009..

Yes but the engine is part of the powertrain warranty so it should be covered regardless

Correct but some dealers wont honor that with a CAI and Cat back like OP stated he had. In my area, dealers here are pricks about mods regardless if they actually do improve the breathing of the car from intake to exhaust

Man, my engine didnt fail but currently at dealership for spun bearing and crankshaft replacement. They are covering under warranty but did try and blame the lack of oil on the catch can. I'm at 20K miles and had the oil changed (by a different dealer) at about 16K. I hope I dont experience any lack of power once I get it back. Keep us posted

Completely get what you're saying. I've encountered a few of those and I hate them. The more laid back dealers, I really like
