Getting rid of overspray

My car came back from a shop and was covered in overspray. Its mostly on the hood, windshield, and bumper. I just ordered the speedy surface prep towel but I'm not sure if that will be enough. I do have a clay bar lying around so I'll probably try both.

Has anyone had to get overspray off their car?

May have to have professionaly detailed to get it off properly without damaging the paint, make sure to seal it well when done. I have seen quotes from 200-500 dollars to correct....

Wow. Maybe I'll start on the windshield first then, see how it goes.

If it is paint then good wash, clay bar and buff it really well. That worked for me. If it is clear coat, then I don't really know what it will take.

What detailing stuff do you have if any? I've taken off overspray for people with the towel, while others required some light polishing. It really depends on what it is. Got any pics?

Clay is your first option and takes care of most over spray easily.

If not, then it's time to polish with the PC. Start with the least agressive polish/pad combo and see if it takes care of it. If not, then step up to a stronger polish like the Correcting Polish.

I'd take it back to the place that caused the issue.

Thanks Nick, that's my exact plan of attack! Is it safe to move onto polishing even if there's still contaminants left in the paint?

Does that apply to clear coat as well as paint overspray?

If we are just talking overspray, yes it's fine as long as you've went over it with clay bar first. Just do small sections at a time and be prepared to use more than one pad. C

Check your pad often. If you notice it getting contaminated with any of the over spray the clay didn't pull off, switch to a fresh one.

Yep. Least aggressive method first, ALWAYS! No sense in wasting time/effort/product.

Starting with the most aggressive approach is like killing a fly with a sledgehammer.
