LFX V6 Trans cooler?
While out driving in SoCal last week our Camaro club did some "spirited" driveing close to Lake Henshaw. I noticed that my tranny oil was getting very warm. I plan on installing the IPF super charger within the next 3 months and I also plan on taking the car to the Fontana Speedway to track the car. Makes me nervous that the tranny is already getting hot and I'm not even S/C yet...
Anyone know if the LFX has an aftermarket tranny cooler available?

Any fluid cooler should work - you just have to tap into the line and find somewhere to mount it. For example, I bought the B&M SuperCooler for my 4L60e on my '94 Camaro. On the 4th gen Camaro, the trans fluid flows through the radiator to help cool it down. I tapped into the line coming out of the radiator and put the B&M SuperCooler in that line. That way the trans fluid comes out of the transmission, into the radiator to help cool it down a little, and then through the B&M SuperCooler to more efficiently cool it down - it then goes back into the transmission. Mount it out of the way and you're good to go.

Front mount would be the way to go. not to much room with the intercooler hogging most of the sapce. I plan on mounting under the frame. tie into the line leaving the radiator (long stainless line). the most I seen on a hot day is about 190*. Stop and go traffic, on the big parking lot I805.

Ok, got it. A B&M SuperCooler for around $60-85 sounds reasonable. Quote:

Anyone else have any aftermarket tranny or additional engine oil coolers installed with some pics?
Just trying to see what's the best options out there for our LFX cars.

No experience with one, but it's definitely a good idea if you're going to push the factory transmission. They're obviously common in larger towing vehicles for the same reason you're thinking of getting one once supercharged.
It's not a car specific part, just need to find what fits in your budget and can be mounted in the space available. |

I'd like to see a front mounted trans cooler on a Camaro for some reason.

Here is the Trans Cooler I use on my SS. Does Great. I don't see trans temp above 180, even after beating on it at the drag strip. Good quality as well. Fles A Lite has been around for years.

Well because I want to go with the IPF S/C I know their intercooler mounts in front of the OEM radiator. I'm sure I'll need to find a remote mount one that has a fan on it for my application.

So thanks to another C5 member (specialLFX) I was able to go to the dealer and find this OEM LFX transmission cooler that comes with an 14' Caprice Police Edition car.
It looks to mount right in front of the air cond. cooler. Parts are all listed and I can get them for around $550. Not sure I want or can have this OEM cooler and have the IPF intercooler occupy the same area?

Might be, I'm about to attempt to install a trans cooler on my IPF setup, so I might be able to give you exactly what you need to know.
