Sluggish through the first two gears
automatic, v6. sluggish as hell in the first two gears...
looking for ideas/mods to help this. Beyond annoying. When racing, i have to start HIGH 2nd gear or low 3rd. In this range, i can hang with a relatively large amount of cars. from a dig, bahhaha. thank god for cars like a mazda rx 8 =]

Well you honestly need an isolator and portted intake manifold trifecta Tune and ported throttle body that will make you rip through the lower Rpms.

Auto V6 is sluggish in low RPMs. This is due to a dead spot that kills the ride. I heard that the new ported IM and 25mm icolator with plenum spacer help curing that bit.
But Jay recommended a better gearing for full treatment.

I'm confused.....sluggish through first two gears?
In first the car should have instant head yanking torque from pretty much any RPM. Mine does. In 2nd, it helps to have the car going at least 35 - 40 mph to get a good pull...45 or so seems to be the sweet spot for having good torque with RPMs left to spare. Any gear past that is fairly weak in the lower rpms. Don't get me wrong...3rd gear will happily pull you up to speed from a low rpm no problem, but is not ideal for a rolling start unless you are already going 65 or so.

how much would it cost me to get a set of gears installed after I bought them? Have never done anything like that before.

Just from the info I've read here, I'd think you'd be looking at 1,000 to 1,200 for gears....total of all costs.

So my m6 can just use the SS gears? And 15% increase in tq with 373s? How about 4.10s? Would it be worth the $1100 or so it would cost, and why haven't i heard of more people doing it? I think Bmore had this done correct?
