Gene, all of your pictures are broken? Can you repair the links, I plan on attempting this setup this weekend. If you cant repair them are you able to upload them to an FTP site? I have a login and site you can upload them to if you need it.

Oh I'm sorry. We just launched a new site last weekend and I haven't had the chance to move the pictures to the new server yet. I will do that soon.

Thanks. The door panels took a little longer than expected to do, so I postponed the dash install until next weekend. I found a spin off way to do the door panels for those that have a 1LT or 1SS with no door ABL. I made a new connection off of the Window power. Its basically the same as a t-tap but I have had poor luck in the past with T-Taps.

So what I ended up doing was shaving the Yellow and Black wire down to the copper on all sides. I created a Female connection off of these wires and Soldered it onto the Yellow and Black. I then covered the wires and placed electrical tape on them. After I was finished it pretty much looked factory.

Once I had secured everything up I simply plugged in the ABL from a set of Silver panels I had bought on the forums here and it worked perfectly. Now if I ever decided to install the factory cloth panels for whatever reason, I can simply unplug the ABL from the connector and switch the panels back. This saves me from having to cut any additional wires out.

I also plan to build a Y connector to add another LED to the other side of the door panel. This way I can get an even balance of light on both sides of the pipe. With the Y connector I can plug both LEDs into the 1 instead of having to T-Tap twice. Ill have to take pictures when I take the panel off next weekend.

I have a question about the brightness of the stock ABL in a 2LT or 2SS door. How bright are they supposed to be. Mine are the same brightness as the glow of the ring around the Speedo and Tach as well as the brightness of the glow on the window switch on the door. Is this supposed to be the brightness, or are they supposed to be brighter? Looking at the pictures in some of these threads, they appear brighter but I dont know if that is just the camera making it appear that way.

^ I'd say mine are about as bright as the cluster rings or maybe slightly dimmer, your description sounds about right...

Just finished mine. Happy now that I got the weatherstriping figured out. I had also removed the strip that has all of the clips on it and added another layer of the gray double sided tape. This managed to bring the trim panel out a little farther on the dash.

Now I just need to repaint the areas that i had originally sanded off. So I should get that paint next week. When I take everything apart I will take some good night shots of the final product.

I'm very interested in seeing what this looks like! Post some pics when you're done!
