[SIZE="4"]Time to upgrade my trunnions!!!

trun·nion
ˈtrənyən/Submit
noun
a pin or pivot forming one of a pair on which something is supported.
a supporting cylindrical projection on each side of a cannon or mortar.

I bought the BTR kit.... seem alot better than stock to me... I am hoping I will be good.

REALLY REALLY liked this upgrade... worth every penny and then some..... see for yourself

**wow.... I was scrubbed the *&^*&^ head/block surfaces for over 5 hours today. I was very sore!!

Time to clean the block and threads...... I used brake parts cleaner, 3m scuff pad and some gasket remover..... it still sucked.

I also cut 3 journals into the stock bolts to chase the threads with... 3 passes before they would come out clean.

Also as Hammdo and others have mentioned.... use a shop vac and tape a small hose to it so you can suck any liquid out of the bolt holes.... and always protect your work. Liquid does not compress as much... you can crack a block with too much/any fluid in your bolt holes.

I am going with the Yank SS 2800 Stall, Pegasus Solid Cradle Mount Bushings and the ADM Fuel Pump w/FPCM....so under the car we go!!!

4 Jack Stands and a Transmission Jack... this job wasn't that bad... granted... I could get to the Trans Bellhousing bolts from above since the engine is torn down...made life very easy.

It REALLY sucked dragging the cradle out of the side of the car to get to the gas tank while balancing it on my 2 1/2 ton Jack..... but I made it work. This is avoided if you cut your rear seat pan, still glad I decided to do it the right way.

Gas tank was nearly on E... it was light as a feather.

I freaking love these Pegasus Solid Cradle Bushings.... and I absolutely HATE HATE the OEM ones.... haha as you can see I used the Sawzall..... another good workout.... oh and the neighbors came over and fused at me.. apparently sawing and 5lbs sledge hammering was unacceptable that late at night.

The factory subframe mounts are crap..... change them if you are increasing your power, I took great joy in throwing mine away OFFICE SPACE style......

So I went back and forth on what options for my timing chain. Did a lot of research and saw a lot of the builders going Katech with LS2 Damper Block.

Im not sure there was anything wrong with my Chain at 37,500 miles... and my tensioner was in great condition.... but I was already in here... and CHain slap / rebound or "whip back" really worried me. SO I went with the LS2 block and Katech Chain.

CALL KATECH DIRECTLY. Summit was advertising a C5R chain... even referenced partnering with Katech in their description... after talking to Katech they were not pleased and quoted to me that the only 2 places that can get the real chain are GM Racing and Katech directly.

I don't know, but I spent the extra 15bux and bought it direct from them

I did drop the oil pan of course and with paper towels in place it was very easy to get the oil pump out.

[SIZE="4"]I bit the bullet.... I'm already this far in... I spoke with my tuner and he has seen gains on a N/A setup with higher compression for the L99.

Had it decked and a valve job done with new LS3 springs and seals. Went this route based on the planned lower lift medium duration cam I planned to run.

I like all this free tech!

I am using all 4 coolant steam vents with a custom hose setup... the threads were good, i checked them!

I assume that is what you meant?

Thanks!!

Right side head gets a 'plug' since the left side uses a coolant temp sender:

You can take the plug out of the original right side head, clean it, use sealer (teflon) and you can plug it up using an 8MM allen wrench.

Coolant rivet goes in the back of the head:

The steam line in the front are open. You need to plug the holes in the back of the heads or, you'll get a coolant leak ;o). There may be caps you can buy, but rivets are how its done at the factory...

Time to put the cam in, I have 1000 other things to do....so this is mostly only because I wanted to! lol....

It should play nice with the Yank 2800 and will help keep her tame on the street.

The Cam went in nice and smooth..... I stopped at each cam bearing and lubed the next section so my hands wouldn't be all nasty and/or wipe some lube off a lobe without knowing.

Oh and my genius Parts guy is converting his L99 to a 3 bolt Cam gear LS3 but somehow he only ordered 1 Cam gear bolt! haha....... I can't fire myself, so I guess we will let this one go and find something else to do while I wait for the other 2.......

Def did the teflon paste on the plug.....

Went with a 4 corner setup on my steam vents, this is an example, although not exactly what I used...

Gotcha. The LSA manifold sits higher, but that kind of setup should do well...
