Thanks GM!

I had my car in the dealership to get some minor things looked at, since I'm almost out of warranty. One of the items was that the cover over the lighter didn't lay flat, it was bent. The dealer (whom I like and trust) said it wasn't covered under warranty since it was interior trim. No big deal, but I contacted GM to get a clarification on what was/was not covered.

Anyway, to make a long story short, even though technically it wasn't covered, they are replacing the part. I didn't even complain, I just asked for a clarification.

Most people take the time to document problems, so I wanted to make sure that the good experiences are document too.

Thanks GM.

Joe.

That is great that GM took care of you but why would your interior part not be normally covered under warranty?

Was not covered? Really? First, how are you almost out of warranty? YOu at 36K miles already?

Second, BUMPER to BUMPER covers just about everything, including interior parts. I remember I bought a 98 Chevy Monte Carlo, brand new, and the door panels had carpet on them. Well, the one on the drivers door was frayed. So, they ordered and replaced it under warranty.

However, since they replaced it, all your concerns have been taken care of.

Yep, I'm at 34,500 miles in just over a year I use it as a daily driver, and I commute about 100 miles/day. I think it wasn't covered because it wasn't clear it was a defect in workmanship. One of my kids may have bent the cover back too far, I'm not sure. I was calling GM to get a clarification, but they said they would cover it. I'm still going to get more info. on what is/is not covered when I get some time.

FYI: I also need new front brakes. Not sure what the expected life is on them, but mine are getting pretty low and squealing.
