Shift point on a auto

On supercharged auto where's your shift point at WOT? Am around 6200 is that being to safe?

This is probably set by swim ever tuned your car. So I suspect your answers will vary depending on how aggressive the tune is and/or what the driver's goals are.

I see stock autos peaking 5800-6000, I'd think depending on which blower (and cam) you have you'd peak much higher than that.

What is your combo?

I see some on the gear thread pushing it up to 7000-7100 RPM at what point of the high rpm that it help's on the 1/4 run?

If your cam likes it up there the tranny will take it. I assume you changed lifters too?
It's all about crossing the quarter in your power band. Gear choice plus shift rpm.

Sounds like a fun combo. Hope you have a trans cooler in there.

I've never had a blower like that but I ran a YSI plus a 236/246 with a 348 cid LS1, and shifted at 7000.

If that was my car, I'd see where it peaked on the dyno. If no dyno numbers and all track tuned, I'd try 6400, 6700 and 7000 and see what the car likes.

Oh yes lifter were changed.

Am running a 4l80 and a large cooler had to cut back side of bumper to get it in. Ran it for the first time 3 week's ago with the new trans. Was watching shift point's at 6200 RPM but did not pay attention to RPM at end of run in 3rd gear.

6200 feels low to me, I'd at least try 6500 to compare. Since you have a lot of good parts I'd still try 6200, 6500 and 6800. Find out where it levels off.

6200 seems pretty darn low. You want to overshoot your power peak by 2-500 RPM depending on how flat it is.

Yeah and also depends on converter. You might find that shifting higher with a tighter converter helps ET by dropping you in a better part of your power band.

Converter is nice for the street but tight to maximize that combo. Try different shift points, I bet it picks up. I like testing combos like this, very gratifying.
