I wish they would! how bout they just make a 5.8l modular motor and see what happens. hell let them make a 5.0 and go against the boss. GM choose to keep the ohv motor and not try any v-8 dohc stuff. Oh wait forgot about all that caddy stuff that evolved into nothing. dispacement is displacement. Its like the 8.4 liter viper owners talking about how they make 550 hp N/A! Well what do you expect from 8.4l!

I never said the ZL1 "blew away" the GT500. The ZL1 does very well in the road course. The road course does belong to the ZL1 in my opinion. In a straight line, the GT500 does win that battle hands down.
I do want a GT500 badly.

Different strokes for different folks. I dont think we will never see a large displacement DOHC Ford motor and I will probably be old and grey before we see another Vette DOHC motor. Point is each mfg has their way of making power. Ford would be making alot more power with more cubes and GM would be making alot more power with DOHC. It doesnt mean they can't do ot itss just that they choose not to.

Gm really isn't that good at dohc motors except that inline 4 from the cobalt ss. But I think it's an import design from Europe. Think North Star series. They did ok but reliable they where not. At some point gm will have to go dohc to meet emissions and fuel economy. Look at the fact zl1 gets gas guz tax and gt500 doesn't. I like the ls series motors because they are easy to mod and pretty light/ not as wide as those ford motors. But on the same note all the dod stuff seems to fail on the l76 and l99. So to mod them its a new set of heads to start!
