Drying the Wheels

When drying the wheels, should I use a different towel than the rest of the car, or use the Dry Me Crazy at the end and do them afterwards? Thanks for helping, I'm still new to detailing.

Definitely use a different towel. Nothing that touches your wheels should ever touch your paint.

Double definitely don't use a dry me crazy on wheels! That's towel abuse.

I wouldn't dry my wheels with an expensive towel. There always little nooks and crannies that hide brake dust and will come off on your expensive towels. Personally, I blow mine dry with a electric leaf blower. Using one of your old towels is perfectly fine. I would dedicate that towel to wheels only from now on though.

I would have a dedicated towel for your wheels. The rick of cross contamination is just to much IMO.

So should I use the cheap towels from Walmart or have a dedicated "good" towel for the wheels?

I use an electric leaf blower. It's great for getting the water out of hard to reach areas.

And might I suggest being weary of washing that towel in your washer. So much gunk gets on it that its not even worth washing in the same washer you wash your clothes. I just throw out my wheel/tire towel once it gets too dirty.

+1 to blowing all the air out.

leaf blower...I have a combo Sears wet/dry vac that you can pull the motor off and wand out the exhaust. I use the square attachment and do the whole car.

Good question. Both make sense....

I use the All Purpose & Wheel Microfiber Towel that we sell, vs. a cheap one, for a couple reasons...

- Usually cheaper towels stop absorbing water quickly, which defeats the purpose.
- The clear coat finish on your wheels is similar to finish on your paint. Just like cheap towels will dull the finish of your paint, using rough and cheap towels on your wheels will have (over time) the same effect.

The All Purpose & Wheel Microfibers are paint safe and high quality. They don't stop absorbing water, and the black color means you will never mistake them for other types of towel.

My 2 cents.
