so first off picked up my car today and i absolutely love it.. but when i went to plug my ipod up the connector in the center console the head unit said no data found for device okay to disconnect device and the only way it would play is if i manually hit play from my ipod and picked songs from my ipod.. is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? and if anyone knows how to fix it i would greatly appreciate it

What iPod are you using? Some are not compatible. But even with my 3GS iPhone it skips and sometimes I just have to turn off the radio, unplug the iPod, plug the iPod back in and then turn on the radio to get it to work. It's unacceptable but what do you do. The service techs at the dealerships don't even know what an iPod is.....

That could explain why when I plug mine in, the song title comes up and it acts like it is playing, but nothing comes from the speakers.

Does anyone know what ipods ARE compatible??

I know that iPod Touch (2nd gen) and iPod Video (5th gen) work. It also works with an 8GB Zune.

On another note, when I got my iPod Touch (before I got my car), I named it Camaro2SS in iTunes. Now when the car recognizes the iPod, it shows Camaro2SS on the radio display. It was really cool the first time it showed up.

Go find a copy of the Rockbox firmware for your ipod and get rid of all that nasty close system proprietary apple itunes firnware they stick you with. Then it will work with any version.

I don't have my car yet, but I want to use my iPod in it when I do get it. I have an older 60GB iPod with video. I am going to give it a try, but if it doesn't work, then I may go with a thumb drive.

My question is, if I use a thumb drive, can I leave the music in the directories by artist and just drag over the folders from my iTunes folder, or do I have to put all the songs in the root directory with no folders on the thumb drive? Thanks.

Unless the files are MP3s, you're going to have to convert them first since the PDIM can only play MP3/WMA.
