Feeler - 2013 Supercharged 1LE 2K miles
Prices seem to be all over the place on modded cars. Just wondering what I should get (either private party or trade in) on my car. Looking to trade/purchase a C7 Vette.
My car: 2013 2SS Black/Black 1LE (no RS) Around 2,000 miles Dual Mode Exhaust Mods: SLP TVS 2300 Supercharger Kooks Long tube headers ZL1 Rockers I am the second owner (purchased at 250 miles). I know it sounds fishy selling with 2K miles, but I really just want to get back into a Vette. Just looking for appx value, car is mint. You would get more for the car to sell it yourself than to trade it in. You're going to need to find a specific buyer that's ok with the mods, lack of full warranty, etc. KBB private party values in excellent condition is $31,451. Trade in is $29,035. Add about 1/2 to 2/3 of what your mod value was new, so say $5,000 and that's about $35,000 if you wanted to set a price on it. I'd list it for $38k obo and see what happens if you're serious about stepping up to the C7. Any higher than that and you're getting into used 2012/2013 ZL1 money and it would be hard to make an argument that your car is worth more.

I know that is normally the case. I have a mod friendly dealer near me so I was going to swing up there. Also thinking the $3K in tax savings might make it a wash. Thanks for your input.

I didn't factor tax savings into the deal, so that would be a positive to trading. Also, if you have more than one vehicle and a good relationship, consignment with the dealer could work out as well.

If you find a buyer a lot of times dealers will let you sell it through them so you get your tax savings.

Yes, the tax savings are considerable, however I still feel you never get your overall best deal when trading. These days, esp. after some really poor experiences at local dealers, I put great value on service as well.
