Paint Issues

I am having an issue with my 2SS RS Red Jewel Tint paint. It seems that water spots and bird droippings are being "burned" into my clear coat / paint. Even when I remove it / dry it right away. Dealer says paint is still fresh and will take more time to cure. I picked it up on 7/13 and the serial # is in 18K. Any ideas?

did you wax it ?

factory paint and clearcoat only does so much. you need to go buy some good wax apply it.

I paid for the dealer paint protection which cost me $300, its really nothing other then a real good wax job, but its warrantied for 5 years against this sort of thing.

Meguiar's Yellow wax is great # 26
as far as bird turd get it off asap with running water and a soft sponge, be careful if there is dirt in the droppings try and use the hose to get it off the dirt will scratch your paint.
Florida heat as well as AZ heat will freakin do crazy stuff to your paint. I had to buff my paint to get some water spots out.

Your dealer if feeding you

if your VIN is in the 18K, that paint is several weeks dried and not to mention that it should be 99% cured when it left the 300 - 400º oven. I never heard of a new car having this problem at all. Dealers run their new cars through several car washes until they are sold to keep em looking clean, and if curing is a problem, dealers would not be doing that.

Are you using hard water? Hard water, if let to dry/sun bake on the paint, it is huge pain to get off. Same for bird crap. But no way your paint is getting burned in marks when you wipe water off it right away. Not even cars that just got painted and baked in a regular paint shop's 110º oven will get that from water. There is more to this story, please share.

You are Florida so you better be careful as many of the birds in your area have particularly acidic poop due to their diet. Here's a few photos of what can happen if you do not get it off quickly.

As you can see, the "toxic" poop will actually leave craters in the clear coat and in some cases (e.g., seagull poop) the poop will eat down to the color.

Remember we have crappy hard water here in Florida if your car is near a sprinkler system and it get's wet you will have hard water marks from the water. A good wax job will help before you are hit with the hard water after that you have to keep up with it same thing if you wash the car and let it air dry a big no no in Florida.

Got my car , have waxed it several times. Bird poop happened. Sprayed it off of the car within an hour. Left a permanent mark on the hood. I have tried mcGuires, all the products. Ordered Zaino and am going to try it, but I am being VERY carful not to buff out too much and do more damage than good. My IBM really shows EVERY defect, dirt, dropping, anything.
Seven defects from the factory in the paint, just leaving them, they are really little, like the size of a pinhead defect, two on hood, two on the back, two on one side, one on the other, so hard to get it to show in a picture.

I spoke with the dealer today and he confirmed there is an issue with certain paint colors and the time for curing. The florida sun is extremely hot and the paint needs more time to cure. They showed me that the paint gets over 145 degrees (via a thermal gun) and the paint becomes soft. They will fix it under warranty if any issues occur. They recommended I let it sit for 30-45 days and they will re-evaluate. If it is still an issue they will apply the paint protectant at no cost.
