So what is the up side and down side of using a solid trans mount?

I can tell you right now a con is going to be lots of vibration. There's a lot of vibration that normally gets damped-out by the factory rubber bushings, and instead, you'd be transferring all of that vibration directly to the car, right beside you.

The only pro is you will never break a solid mount, but the vibration, noise etc. is not worth running a solid mount. Not to mention the possibility of breaking the transmission case with the right torque or flex during a hard launch.

I would just go with like a prothane or energy suspension tranny mount and call it a day, you will have a heck of a time breaking or tearing one of those anyway.

Even on our race cars where we use solid engine mounts, we will not use solid tranny mounts.

i agree, its real bad for NHV

p.s. hard poly is not much better.

I put a poly mount in my 4th gen once. Took it out almost imediatly. The NVH was beyond bad for me. A solid mount would have been even worse. If you are in a auto I doubt you will get a mount problem from the stock one even with lots of power.

I rigged up a poly mount in my old 4th gen, it would vibrate about 3k rpm for a while, then it went away.
