couple of questions

this could be answered many times, i apologize in advance, i guess i just can't find it in answered in the way i'm looking...

ok, so i know about this break-in period which lasts 1500 miles, and i see alot of ppl that r saying go hard on it...what does that exactly me? floor it over 4k rpm? drive like you're stealing it?

and when would it be best 2 start modifying the engine? after the 1500 mile break in?

thanks in advance for any advice...and sorry again if this has been answered before

Take it or leave it... it's up to you. Read the other posts too because Darin talks about mods as well.

1. Break-in: I would follow the owners manual, however, some say that is BS and you should disregard what the manufacturer recommends. Consider this: Following what the manufacturer says will not hurt your car or warranty, the same cannot necessarily be said of of the contrary. Why risk it? Now watch the flames hit me on this...

2. Most performance mods are fine to put on right away, however, you should talk to your dealer to find out which ones are likely to cause warranty issues (headers, tuners, superchargers...). I would start with a CAI and a catback.

3. If you're not worried about damage to your car or the warranty, drive it as hard and fast as you want and install all the mods you want! Seriously though, I would follow what the owners manual says and check with your dealer about mods before adding any (mods are also a big point of conjecture and people have lots and lots of opinions about the whole topic).

I am going with a more aggressive break in. I won't totally trash it, but I will be hard for the first few hundred. As for mods, I am putting on a cat back, shorty headers and CAI. I will be waiting a couple of months first. This is more for timing for better weather, but if there something wrong with the drivetrain it will usually surface quickly so I can if taken care of before any aftermarket stuff gets put on.
